Good to know before you buy
Is it for cats or dogs?
Both. WoofWell is made for small and medium cats and dogs. For bigger drinkers, top it up daily, or add a second fountain in another room.
Do I need a filter?
The fountain works without a filter, but a filter keeps fur and food bits out of the water and the pump. Swap it every 3 to 4 weeks, or every 2 to 3 weeks if you have more than one pet. If the water looks cloudy or the flow slows down, it is time for a fresh one. A pack of 4 is about a 3-month supply, and packs of 8 and 12 last about 6 and 9 months.
What does it cost to run?
Very little. The pump uses 1.5 W, which works out to roughly R3 to R4 of electricity a month. Filters are optional, and the only other running cost: one pad every 3 to 4 weeks. A pack of 4 (R199) lasts about 3 months, roughly R65 a month, or about R53 a month with the pack of 12.
Is the pump noisy?
No. The pump runs at about 30 dB, quieter than a whisper, so you will mostly just hear a gentle trickle. If it gets louder, the water is usually running low or the pump needs a quick rinse.
How do I clean it?
Wash the stainless steel bowl with warm soapy water about once a week, and rinse the pump once a month. Swap the filter when it is due. That is it.
What do I plug it into?
Plugs into any phone charger you already have, using the USB cable in the box.
Is it safe to have electricity near the water?
Yes. WoofWell runs on low-voltage USB power (5 V, 1.5 W) from a phone charger plug, not on mains power, and the pump is made to run underwater. The manufacturer lists CE, FCC, RoHS and UKCA certification. Keep the USB plug itself dry and away from the bowl.
My cat only drinks from the tap. Will this help?
It is made for exactly that cat. Lots of cats find flowing water more appealing than a still bowl, and WoofWell gives them a gentle stream of their own at floor level, so you can stop running the tap on request. Every cat is different, so give them a few days to discover it.
Will my pet actually use it?
Most pets take to it within a few days. Tip: put the fountain next to their old bowl at first, then take the bowl away once they are drinking from the fountain.
